Major American television networks have resumed covering public events featuring Donald Trump following a legal dispute over press credentials at the White House, according to CNN reporter Kristen Holmes.
The renewed access comes as news organizations push back against White House restrictions through the federal court system. The administration justified barring the specific outlets by accusing them of publishing false news and maintaining a negative editorial tone. Officials also cited the use of anonymous sourcing in news reports as grounds for revoking access.
In response, representatives for the affected media organizations pointed out that many of the confidential sources cited in their coverage originated directly from within the Trump administration itself, and that administration officials frequently requested anonymity when providing information.
