Warbirds Over Scone 2026: Australia’s Premier Aviation Spectacle

Australia’s largest gathering of historic military aircraft in over 80 years, Warbirds Over Scone, returns to Scone Airport in the NSW Upper Hunter from March 28-29, 2026. The event promises a thrilling display of aerial prowess and a tribute to aviation history, featuring an unprecedented formation of iconic warbirds.

A Historic Flypast

Organizers are touting the 2026 event as showcasing the largest formation of Supermarine Spitfires and North American P-51 Mustangs seen in Australia since World War II. Attendees can expect to witness five Spitfires and seven Mustangs flying in formation as reported by Australian Flying.

Beyond Spitfires and Mustangs

The airshow isn’t limited to just these two legendary aircraft. The program, led by Paul Bennet Airshows in partnership with Pay’s Aviation and Hunter Warbirds, will feature a diverse range of historic aircraft and aerobatic displays. Aircraft on display will include the F4U-1D Corsair, De Havilland Vampire, Sea Fury, Avenger, Strikemaster, and Wirraway .

Aerobatic Excellence

Paul Bennet will grab to the skies in the Wolf Pitts Pro, a high-performance aerobatic aircraft capable of speeds up to 414 km/h and roll rates exceeding 360 degrees per second. The program aims to blend historical appreciation with modern aerial excitement .

Warbirds Over Scone offers more than just aerial displays. Visitors can explore aircraft on the ground, view vintage vehicles, enjoy food vendors, and participate in family activities. A STEM-focused schools program will be held on March 27, providing students with access to pilots, engineers, and aircraft, and highlighting career opportunities in aviation .
