Coming off a flawless 14-0 campaign and the Division II state championship, the Ironwood Eagles return a deep roster of experienced seniors under coach Brett Stafford, who enters his 12th year leading the program, according to West Valley Preps. Stafford’s squad features top returning players Madison Nguyen at No. 1 singles, Sasha Tijore at No. 2, Alyssa Ridgley at No. 3, and Mariyah Peru-Ray at No. 4.
The Eagles also welcome impact newcomers Sophia Tijore at No. 5 and Alexis Jones at No. 6. According to Stafford, the team’s primary asset is a battle-tested group of seniors who have put in three to four years of rigorous preparation. Ironwood’s stated goals for the season are capturing another section title and sweeping both the team state championship and the individual and doubles state crowns.

At Mountain Ridge, second-year head coach Adam Korman guides a Mountain Lions squad that finished 11-3 and reached the Division I semifinals last year, as reported by West Valley Preps. Junior Bhavana Vinodh anchors the lineup at the No. 1 spot, followed by senior Shresta Narayanan at No. 2.
The Mountain Lions add critical varsity depth this season through junior Aditi Bhat and seniors Jessica Huang and Hannah Evans, who transition into heavy varsity roles after competing outside the top tier previously. Korman points to the roster’s strong competitive drive as a defining trait, with primary objectives focused on winning the Division I Desert Valley region, qualifying for the team state tournament, and securing favorable individual postseason seedings.
Sunrise Mountain Navigates Division I Schedule Shift
Sunrise Mountain enters the season facing a stiffer test after shifting to play several Division I programs, according to fourth-year coach Missy Carter. The Mustangs finished 12-2 last year, reaching the second round of the Division II tournament in the Peoria section.
Carter’s lineup features returning varsity standouts Ruthey Figg, Delight Canale, Jaycee Carter, and Brea Escobedo.
