Westfield Part-Dieu Announces Recent Openings and Expansion Plans for 2026
Lyon’s Westfield Part-Dieu shopping center is preparing for a series of new openings and renovations in 2026, according to an exclusive interview with center director Jean-Philippe Pelou-Daniel published on March 9, 2026. The developments include a new Italian restaurant, several retail openings, and store renovations.
IT Villagio to Replace Food Society
A major addition to the center will be IT Villagio, a large Italian restaurant concept, which will replace the existing Food Society restaurant by the end of 2026. The restaurant will span 1,900 square meters, including a 500 square meter terrace, and aims to recreate the atmosphere of a traditional Italian village with diverse culinary offerings. IT Trattoria, the brand’s current restaurant within the center, will close to make way for the larger concept.
Retail Openings and Renovations
Several retail brands are slated to open or reopen at Westfield Part-Dieu in the coming months. G la dalle will open on March 13, followed by Mira Mira, a jewelry brand, on March 30. Frivilin, a men’s ready-to-wear store, is scheduled for early April, along with a Donuts & Donuts kiosk. Tamaris will reopen on March 25, and Hugo Boss will reopen on March 26. Maisons du monde recently reopened on March 7 with a renovated store.
New Yorker will also relocate to a renovated 1,300 square meter space near Five Guys.
Visitor Numbers and Market Performance
Westfield Part-Dieu experienced a 1.3% increase in visitors in 2023, reaching 32.2 million, compared to 31.85 million the previous year. This performance surpasses the French shopping center market average of 0.6% growth. January 2026 saw a 3.1% increase in visitors compared to the previous year.
Security and Future Projects
The shopping center has invested heavily in security, including a comprehensive video surveillance system and a security team of around 100 people. Pelou-Daniel noted that the security measures allow for the clarification of 98% of incidents. The center is also exploring the possibility of adding a DIY store to its offerings, though challenges remain due to the preference of DIY brands for locations outside of city centers.
