Winnipeg Police Headquarters Flooded, Two Face Mischief Charges

Winnipeg police headquarters experienced significant flooding on Saturday, February 14, 2026, after two individuals allegedly opened emergency water supply valves. A man and a woman have been arrested and charged with mischief over $5,000 in connection with the incident.

What Happened?

The flooding began Saturday evening in the tower portion of the building located at 266 Graham Avenue. According to Winnipeg police, the two suspects opened several emergency water supply valves in the upper stairwells, causing significant water pressure to build up and flood areas of the headquarters. CBC News reported that water was seen pouring from the ceiling and pooling around broken light fixtures.

Arrests and Charges

Police identified and located the suspects near the building around 11 p.m. On Saturday. A 51-year-old man and a 36-year-old woman have been charged with six counts of mischief over $5,000 and have been released on undertakings. Global News confirmed the charges.

Extent of the Damage

The flooding caused “extensive” property damage, though the full extent is still being assessed. Constable Dani McKinnon of the Winnipeg Police Service stated that assessing the damage “is going to grab a while” and that crews are working to identify all affected areas. CityNews Winnipeg reported that uniform operations will not be impacted, but some working units have been temporarily relocated.
