Wizkid Surpasses Twelve Billion Spotify Streams

Nigerian Afrobeats singer Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, widely known as Wizkid, has reached a reported 12 billion total streams on Spotify across all credited appearances, making him the first African artist to hit the milestone according to tracking data reported on Monday, October 26, 2026. The milestone, reported by The Guardian, cements the musician’s commercial reach across international markets.

Independent tracking metrics show a divergence in the exact figures. While the fan-run statistics account WizStatz announced the 12 billion milestone in late October 2026, Kworb’s Spotify tracker recorded the singer’s total at 11,656,624,913 streams in its October 25, 2026 update. The cumulative totals encompass all tracks where Wizkid appears as either a lead artist or a featured performer, spanning solo releases, collaborations, and guest appearances.

Drake and Tems Collaborations Drive Catalog Numbers

Much of the streaming volume relies on high-profile international collaborations. Released in 2016, Canadian rapper Drake’s global hit “One Dance,” featuring Wizkid and British singer Kyla, contributes more than 4.5 billion streams to independent trackers. The track introduced Wizkid to broader international listeners and remains a primary driver of his legacy streaming numbers.

Following that initial global exposure, Wizkid released his fourth studio album, Made in Lagos, in 2020. The project included the track “Essence,” featuring Nigerian singer Tems. The song achieved international recognition after a 2021 remix featuring Canadian singer Justin Bieber, bringing further pop audiences to the catalog. Earlier records such as “Ojuelegba,” “Joro,” and the Drake collaboration “Come Closer” established his reputation before his music gained wider international attention.

Successive Milestones Mark Rapid Streaming Growth Through 2026

The 12 billion streaming threshold follows a rapid succession of milestones earlier in the year. Wizkid crossed the 10 billion Spotify streams mark in January 2026 before advancing to 11 billion streams in May 2026. According to the milestone timeline circulating among fans, he reached the 12-billion mark in October. These successive gains illustrate the sustained, long-term consumption of his music across diverse global demographics.

Independent trackers continue to monitor the catalog as consumption grows. ChartMasters’ Wizkid artist page tracks ongoing career milestones, highlighting the broader economic shift as streaming platforms expand the global footprint of Nigerian music beyond traditional domestic markets.

Family and Personal Acknowledgments

Amid the streaming milestones, Wizkid’s partner, Jada P, marked her birthday by penning a note to celebrate herself, Wizkid, and motherhood. In the post, she spoke glowingly about Wizkid, describing him as a loving, supportive, caring, and the best father.
