Wolters Kluwer and Microsoft Integrate UpToDate into Copilot for Enhanced Clinical Decision Support
A new collaboration between Wolters Kluwer Health and Microsoft aims to bring trusted clinical intelligence directly into the workflows of healthcare professionals. The integration of Wolters Kluwer’s UpToDate, a leading clinical decision support (CDS) solution, with Microsoft’s Dragon Copilot, Microsoft 365 Copilot, and Microsoft Teams promises to streamline access to evidence-based information at the point of care.
UpToDate Powers Microsoft’s AI-Driven Tools
The partnership introduces UpToDate as a clinical intelligence layer for generative AI capabilities embedded in Microsoft productivity tools. This allows clinicians and care teams to access reliable, evidence-based clinical intelligence directly within their documentation, communication, and collaboration processes Wolters Kluwer.
Through healthcare agent services within Microsoft Copilot Studio, clinicians can now receive real-time, contextually relevant clinical answers grounded in UpToDate content. These responses are fully cited, ensuring transparency and accountability, and are integrated into documentation tools, generative Q&A experiences, and enterprise productivity experiences KnowledgeSpeak.
Addressing the Need for Trustworthy AI in Healthcare
The integration addresses a critical need for reliable information within AI-powered healthcare tools. UpToDate’s content is developed by more than 7,600 expert clinicians worldwide who serve as physician editors and peer reviewers KnowledgeSpeak. This ensures the information provided is both current and rigorously vetted.
Hadas Bitran, Partner General Manager, Health & Life Sciences at Microsoft, emphasized the importance of the collaboration, stating that all Microsoft content based on UpToDate will include full citations of its sources Wolters Kluwer.
