Singer Erika Norwich has publicly responded to media reports about her recent visit to Marius Borg Høiby at Norway’s Skaugum estate, where the 29-year-old remains in pre-trial detention, gala.de reported.
Borg Høiby, the son of Queen Mette-Marit, has appealed the detention decision, gala.de reported. While held at Skaugum, he has received regular visitors, most recently Norwich, 27, who addressed the meeting in an Instagram post after outlets claimed she drove to the estate to comfort him following a court ruling.
Norwich Disputes Reports of Comfort Visit
In her Instagram statement, Norwich apologized for a Snapchat post she shared from Skaugum. “I apologize for the post on Snap yesterday,” she wrote. “I was overwhelmed when I wrote it, and I realize the way I phrased it could have made you feel responsible for how I feel. I should have handled that differently.”
She rejected claims that she visited to console him after a legal defeat. Media had alleged she was “at Skaugum after the court defeat to comfort Marius. That is provably a direct lie and something told only to make the story more dramatic,” she wrote. The photos, she said, reveal nothing about why she was there.
Reasons for Visit Remain Undisclosed
Norwich did not explain the purpose of her visit, and the nature of her connection to Borg Høiby is not known, gala.de reported. In the final slide of her message, she wrote: “I feel very great sympathy for all who have experienced violence in close relationships, psychological violence, or assaults. I stand by what I have said about this before, and I will continue to advocate for these issues.”
She added that she needs time “to sort things out for myself” and will not say more on the topic at present.
