World of Warcraft: Forever Launches With 1,000+ New Quests and Skyborne Race

Blizzard Entertainment has officially released World of Warcraft: Forever, a new standalone experience designed to run alongside the modern and Classic versions of the game. As reported by jeu.video, the game introduces a permanent journey spanning levels 1 to 60, featuring over 1,000 new quests and a narrative timeline set between the events of Warcraft III: Reforged – Forsaken Kingdom and the Molten Core raid.

New Regions and Level Progression

The expansion invites players to explore both original and reimagined continents across Azeroth. Notable additions include the Mount Hyjal zone, which focuses on the aftermath of Archimonde’s defeat, and Shen’dralas, a region situated between Mulgore and Desolace that integrates lore involving the Shen’dralar and local centaur tribes.

According to official Blizzard documentation, the Riverglades region serves as a primary hub for mid-game progression, offering more than 150 quests tailored for characters between levels 35 and 45. The game also introduces the Isle of Zephras, a starting zone that blends traditional Classic aesthetics with elemental-themed architecture.

Skyborne Race Chooses Between Horde and Alliance Factions

World of Warcraft: Forever introduces the Skyborne as a new playable race. Players beginning their journey on the Isle of Zephras will navigate an introductory experience covering levels 1 through 12 before formally pledging allegiance to either the Horde or the Alliance.

The choice of faction influences available class options. Horde-aligned Skyborne, known as Windshapers, gain access to the Shaman class, while Alliance-aligned High-Order Skyborne can pursue the path of the Mage. The update also expands class combinations for existing races, enabling options such as Orc Mages, Troll Warlocks, Undead Paladins, Human Hunters, Gnome Priests, and Dwarf Shamans.

Players Select Between Classic and Enhanced Visual Settings

Upon initial login, players must select a default experience configuration before finalizing their rule set. The "Classic" setting defaults to standard character models and disables features like quest points of interest, the unified bag system, and transmogrification. The "Enhanced" setting enables high-definition models and activates these modern convenience features.

These settings are not permanent. Blizzard notes that players can modify their preferences at any time through the in-game options menu. Players can toggle between high-definition and standard-definition character models and animations independently for each character through the game’s barbershop or settings menu, without affecting character progression or ability sets.

Visual Settings Exclude Any Changes to Character Power

Does the choice of "Classic" or "Enhanced" settings affect character power?
No. The configuration settings determine the visual presentation and interface features, such as quest markers and character models, but they do not alter a character’s abilities, combat performance, or overall level progression.

Can players change their faction-specific class options later?
The class selection is tied to the faction choice made during the creation of a Skyborne character. Players should consider their preferred class—such as the Shaman for Horde Windshapers or the Mage for Alliance High-Order Skyborne—when selecting their allegiance at the start of the game.

Where does the story of World of Warcraft: Forever fit in the timeline?
The narrative is positioned specifically after the events of Warcraft III: Reforged – Forsaken Kingdom and concludes before the opening of the Molten Core raid, covering the journey from level 1 to 60.
