Xbox Prioritizes Player Safety with AI, Reporting & Education

In a country where more than 72 million people play video games, Digital security stopped being an “extra” and became an urgent priority. Xbox knows it and, within the framework of Safe Internet Day, the company reinforced its strategy to protect girls, boys and adolescents within its platforms, with special attention to massive titles such as Minecraftone of the virtual spaces most visited by young people.

Jesús Grovas, member of Xbox LATAM Communications Lead, specified that the company seeks ccreate an ecosystem where playing also means learning to take care of yourself online. And to achieve this, the brand is betting on artificial intelligence, more accessible reporting tools and greater transparency about what is happening within their communities.

How will Xbox create a safer gaming territory?

As part of this strategy, Xbox published its most recent Transparency Reporta document in which it analyzes how millions of players interact and what actions are being taken to reduce harmful behavior.

Among the most notable advances are AI systems capable of detecting problematic behavior from early stages, allowing intervention before situations of harassment or inappropriate content escalate. Besides, the company reports a decrease in complaints about offensive messages or unwanted, a sign that filters and moderation are working better than in previous years.

Reporting channels were also improvedsince now reports can be made more quickly and intuitively, without forcing users to exit the game. Added to this are more visible age verifications and parental controlsdesigned so that mothers, fathers and guardians have greater control over the gaming experience of minors.

One of the main focuses of these initiatives is Minecraft, which in addition to being a creative sandbox, has been transformed into an educational tool.

Through Minecraft EducationXbox launched experiences like CyberSafe: Bad Connection?an interactive world that simulates real internet situations to teach players to identify risks, protect their information and make responsible decisions within the digital environment.

The company also announced the creation of the Minecraft Safety Councila council made up of digital well-being specialists that will advise on best practices, risk prevention and the design of safer functions for the community.

Beyond technology, Xbox now seeks to ensure that a healthy environment does not depend only on algorithms. The culture within the game is built by the users themselves. Therefore, collaboration between developers, families, educators and players will be key to maintaining spaces free of toxicity.
