Xelina, formerly known as Zelina Vega, recently revealed that her WWE Women’s United States Championship reign was originally slated to unfold through a much different storyline that was ultimately scrapped by management. The star made the revelations during an appearance on Ring the Belle
, looking back at her 63-day reign that began after she defeated Chelsea Green in April 2025.
Before eventually dropping the title to Giulia, Xelina and Green had brainstormed concepts to draw heavier boos for the heel Green and generate strong sympathy for the challenger. According to the former champion, the creative direction took a different path because Paul Triple H
Levesque wanted to keep the championship on her following the strong crowd reactions to her victory—her first singles title in the company.
The Scrapped Pitch and Secret Hervice Plans
The original storyline dreamed up by Xelina and Green centered around an addition to the Secret Hervice that never came to fruition. Xelina detailed the pitched sequence:
I was like, ‘What if we did something where it was like whatever pay-per-view or whatever it is, I win the title, but then, the very next show, we have a rematch.’
At that point in the plan, Zoey Stark was supposed to join Green’s group. Then, at that point, you would win it back, but have Zoey come in, like beat the ever-loving s*** out of me. Make it disgusting, like make it really bad so people will feel for me. I can get that kind of sympathy back and then you guys are sitting up there, the big heels. You got your title back and it’s great.
Green loved the concept and agreed to do it, and Xelina noted that Road Dogg attempting to switch the gold back to Green during a scene in WWE Unreal
was simply pitching what the women had already devised.
Creative Differences and Defending the Workhorse Title
Xelina noted that Levesque had different ideas and wanted to keep the championship on her, a decision she believes stemmed from the crowd’s reaction. However, she felt the altered direction worked against them because she did not get to defend the title much. The former champion also expressed a wish to take the belt to other promotions such as AAA and Stardom to establish it as a premier workhorse title for the women.

Reflecting on her time with the championship, Xelina admitted it is difficult as an artist to grasp being a character in someone else’s storybook, stating, There’s things that I wish were different. I’m still very thankful that it happened.
