Xiaomi to Potentially Debut Hidden 3D Facial Recognition on MIX 5

JAKARTA – Recent rumors have sent ripples through the smartphone world: Xiaomi may be the first to release 3D facial recognition technology (3D facial recognition) completely hidden under the screen. This feature is rumored to appear on the Xiaomi MIX 5, potentially launching before the iPhone 18 series in September 2026.

Xiaomi’s MIX series, renowned for its radical design innovations, last saw a new model in August 2021 with the MIX 4. This phone introduced Xiaomi’s first under-display selfie camera, though its quality wasn’t yet flawless.

Details originates from prominent tipsters Digital Chat Station and Smart Pikachu on Weibo. They report Xiaomi is developing a phone with a quad-curved screen (curved on four sides), an under-display front camera, and a 3D face unlock system also entirely concealed. If accurate, this would be the first smartphone globally to combine these two advanced technologies on a mass scale.
