Xiaomi Pad 8 Series Launches Globally: A Deep Dive into Specs and Pricing

Xiaomi has expanded its tablet lineup globally with the launch of the Xiaomi Pad 8 and Pad 8 Pro, unveiled at a launch event in Barcelona, Spain. These new tablets aim to deliver a blend of performance, portability, and productivity features to the Android tablet market.

Design and Display

Both the Xiaomi Pad 8 and Pad 8 Pro share a similar design aesthetic, featuring aluminum frames, and backs. They are designed to be lightweight and thin, weighing 485 grams and measuring 5.75mm in thickness. Both tablets boast an 11.2-inch IPS LCD display with a resolution of 3200 x 2136 pixels (3.2K). The displays support a 144Hz refresh rate, HDR10, Dolby Vision, HDR Vivid, and reach a peak brightness of up to 800 nits. Xiaomi maintains a 3:2 screen ratio, similar to previous generations.

The Pad 8 Pro is also available in a Matte Glass version, which Xiaomi claims reduces screen reflectivity by up to 70%, enhancing visibility in bright outdoor conditions.

Audio and Connectivity

To enhance the multimedia experience, both tablets are equipped with four speakers featuring Dolby Atmos support. They also support Hi-Res and Hi-Res Audio Wireless for high-quality audio playback.

Performance and Storage

The Xiaomi Pad 8 is powered by the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 chipset, paired with up to 12GB of RAM and up to 256GB of internal storage. The Xiaomi Pad 8 Pro steps up the performance with the flagship Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, coupled with up to 16GB of RAM and up to 512GB of internal storage. Neither tablet offers microSD card support for storage expansion.

Cameras

The Xiaomi Pad 8 features a 13MP rear camera and an 8MP front-facing camera for video calls. The Pad 8 Pro boasts upgraded camera specifications with a 50MP rear camera and a 32MP front camera.

Battery and Charging

Both tablets are powered by a 9,200mAh battery. The Xiaomi Pad 8 supports 45W prompt charging, while the Pad 8 Pro supports faster 67W fast charging.

Additional Features

The Xiaomi Pad 8 series supports stylus input, wireless connectivity via Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4, an IR sensor, USB Type-C 3.2, a fingerprint sensor, and 22.5W reverse wired charging for powering other devices.

Software

Both tablets run on HyperOS 3, which includes a range of AI-powered features and productivity tools.

Pricing and Availability

The Xiaomi Pad 8 is priced starting at €449 for the 8GB/128GB configuration. The Xiaomi Pad 8 Pro starts at €599 for the 8GB/256GB model. A special Matte Glass Edition of the Pad 8 Pro, with 12GB/512GB, is available for €769. The Xiaomi Focus Pen Pro stylus is priced at €99.

The Xiaomi Pad 8 is available in Black, Blue, and Green. The Pad 8 Pro comes in Pine Green, Blue, and Gray.
