Minneapolis Police Shooting Investigation: Officer on Leave, No Injuries Reported
A Minneapolis police officer is on administrative leave following an incident early Thursday morning, December 11, 2025, where the officer discharged a firearm at an armed suspect. Incident Details
At approximately 12:30 a.m., police received a 911 call reporting that a man was pointing a gun at a woman near Fifth Avenue South and East Lake Street. The caller and his mother, who was the intended target, heard what they believed to be the same suspect discharging a firearm shortly after the initial threat.
Upon arriving at the scene, officers encountered the suspect emerging from his apartment while armed with a gun. Despite repeated commands to drop the weapon, the suspect did not comply. An officer subsequently fired two shots, but did not strike the suspect. The suspect was then taken into custody and booked on suspicion of assault.
