£20,000 Reward Offered in Dunmurry Attempted Murder Investigation
A reward of up to £20,000 is being offered for information relating to the attempted murder of a 49-year-old man in west Belfast last year. The incident occurred on February 23, 2025, in the Bell Steel Manor area of Dunmurry, while the victim was seated in a white Skoda Octavia taxi.
Details of the Attack
Police have released an image of the scene, including the taxi, as part of their appeal for information. According to Detective Inspector Gina Quinn, the attack was a “ruthless and targeted” attempt on the man’s life. It took place in broad daylight in a busy area, posing a risk to bystanders.
Suspect Description
Investigators believe two gunmen approached the taxi on foot from a path between the Glenwood and Laurelbank areas. One suspect was dressed in dark clothing, while the other wore a hi-vis yellow jacket. Shots were fired at the victim at approximately 10:25 am. The suspects fled on foot, retracing their steps across the Stewartstown Road into the Glasvey area, where the hi-vis jacket was reportedly removed. They continued across the Twinbrook Road and into the Gardenmore Road area by 10:40 am.
Evidence Recovered
Following searches in the Glasvey area, police recovered several items, including firearms, a baseball cap, and what is believed to be the jacket worn by one of the gunmen.
Appeal for Information
Detective Inspector Quinn reiterated the police’s appeal for anyone with information, or who may have captured footage of the attack or the suspects’ movements before or after the incident, to come forward. The reward is being offered by the charity Crimestoppers.
