Harrisburg Rowhome Fire Displaces 13, Investigation Underway

Harrisburg, PA – A two-alarm fire ripped through a row of homes in the 400 block of Hummel Street in Harrisburg on Sunday, February 22, 2026, displacing 13 residents. The fire, which began at approximately 6:37 a.m., spread across six homes, causing significant damage.

Fire Spread and Damage

The fire reportedly originated at 417 Hummel Street and extended to homes at 411, 413, 415, 419, and 421 Hummel Street FOX43. According to Harrisburg Fire Chief Brian Enterline, the fire spread primarily along the second floor and into the third-floor cockloft – the space between the ceiling and roof PennLive. Crews faced challenges due to tight alleyways hindering access to the rear of the buildings.

Red Cross Assistance and Displacement

The American Red Cross is currently assisting the 13 individuals displaced by the fire FOX43. Neighbors reported that at least four of the homes are completely uninhabitable, with several families including small children affected PennLive.

Investigation Underway

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the Harrisburg Police Department PennLive. Chief Enterline indicated that investigators “have some good information on how the fire started,” though details have not yet been released.
