Cordlife Can Continue Operations for Now, But Future Uncertain

Embattled cord-blood bank Cordlife saeid it will be able too continue operating for at least the next year, even if its potential suspension takes effect.

The company assessed its ability to continue as a going concern for the 12 months ending September 30, 2026. This came after the Ministry of Health (MOH) issued a notice of intent to suspend cordlife’s cord-blood banking services on September 29, following the discovery of operational issues.

In a filing on Monday (October 6), Cordlife shared the results of its assessment. It considered various possible outcomes and risk levels, “in light of various key risks and uncertainties.”

“Considering the financial results for the first half of 2025 and cash flow forecasts, the board believes the company can continue as a going concern for the period under review, provided that there are no unexpected problems,” Cordlife stated.

For the first half of 2025, which ended in June, the company reduced its net loss to S$4.6 million, down from S$12.4 million the previous year. Revenue for the half-year increased by 108.8 percent to S$19.2 million, thanks to the full restart of operations in Singapore in January after a nearly nine-month suspension.
