7 Subtle Signs You Might Be Deficient in Vital Nutrients, According to a Doctor

A Harvard-trained doctor has revealed seven subtle clues that you might be deficient in vital nutrients.

Dr. Saurabh Sethi, a gastroenterologist in California, shared five common signs in a viral TikTok video, which has been viewed more than 1.6 million times.

These signs include brittle nails, joint clicking, premature gray hair, easy bruising, fatigue, and headaches. These signs could indicate you might be lacking in things like iron, vitamin C, calcium, vitamin D, vitamin B12, and magnesium.

According to Dr. Sethi, brittle nails could signal a deficiency in iron or protein. Nails are primarily made up of keratin, a protein also found in hair and skin. Dr. Sethi explained that iron deficiency deprives nails of oxygen, leading to brittleness.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 1 in 4 Americans don’t get enough iron. 0 grams of protein per kilogram of body weight.f 150-pound person should consume 54 grams daily.

Joint clicking, Dr. Sethi said, may indicate vitamin D or calcium deficiency. Vitamin D and calcium are crucial for bone health. 4 National Institutes of Health estimates 1 in 4 Americans don’t get enough vitamin D. Recommended daily intake is 800 IU.

Easy bruising can be a sign of vitamin C deficiency. Vitamin C helps form collagen, protecting blood vessels. Dr.

Gray hair can indicate vitamin B12 deficiency. Dr. Sethi also mentioned copper deficiency. 

Excessive vitamin D may cause kidney stones, headaches, and fatigue. 

Easy bruising may indicate vitamin K1 deficiency.
