Spain Dominates Day Two of FIA Motorsport Games
Spain continues its impressive run at the 2024 FIA Motorsport Games, securing additional gold medals in Rally2 Tarmac and Rally4 Tarmac, solidifying its position atop the medal standings.
After claiming gold in Rally2 Gravel and Rally4 Gravel on Friday, Spain further extended its dominance on Saturday. Alejandro Cachón/Borja Rozada conquered Rally2 Tarmac, while Sergi Pérez/Axel Coronado achieved a remarkable double victory, securing their second gold medal in two consecutive days.
Italy showcased strong performance by winning gold in Historic Rally Gravel on Friday, followed by another gold medal win in Historic Rally Tarmac on Saturday. Andrea Zivian/Nicola Arena emerged victorious in both historic rally categories.
Turkey and Lithuania secured second and third places respectively in Rally2 Gravel, while Slovakia and Brazil claimed silver and bronze medals in Rally4 Gravel. The UK and Czech Republic took home silver and bronze medals, respectively, in Historic Rally Gravel.
In other categories, Turkey secured silver in Rally2 Tarmac, followed by Denmark. Netherlands and Germany earned silver and bronze medals, respectively, in Rally4 Tarmac. Spain and Sweden clinched silver and bronze medals in Historic Rally Gravel.
Germany snatched gold in GT racing after the UK received penalties for exceeding track limits. Switzerland secured the bronze medal. Meanwhile, Brazil’s Igor De Oliveira Rodrigues dominated Esports GT, followed by Germany and Czech Republic. Luis Felipe de Sà Tavares from Brazil continued the nation’s winning streak, claiming gold in Esports F4, ahead of Czech Republic and South Korea.
Belgium triumphed in Karting Endurance, repeating its 2022 gold medal. Spain secured silver, narrowly edging out the UK, who finished third. Italy’s Marco Butti emerged victorious in a rain-affected Touring Car race, followed by Argentina and Spain.
Sunday’s schedule is packed with exciting races in various categories, including Auto Slalom, Cross Car, Drifting, Formula 4, and Karting. The Closing Ceremony will take place at 20:30 hrs local time.
