The Dynamic Duo: Patrik Hezucký and Leoš Mareš
They first met in 1997, when they began co-hosting the now iconic Morning Show on Europe 2. Michel Fleischmann, then director of Europe 2 and the creator of the show, brought them together. Some still joke that hezucký was assigned to Mareš as a sort of controller, someone capable of at least partially directing Mareš’s often unpredictable energy. Fleischmann himself admitted that Mareš was quite unrestrained and needed a partner to record his jokes, providing some direction to their broadcasts. Hezucký thus became a kind of Mareš’s “stupid blonde,” a term reportedly common in radio and entertainment. And, according to Fleischmann, it was an incredibly difficult role, as convincingly playing a fool when one is clever-as was the case with Patrik Hezucký-is remarkably challenging.

They were like husband and wife
They were completely different, like yin and yang, yet together they formed an incredibly strong pair, both professionally and personally. Mareš is a quintessential showman, an entertainer born for the microphone and the stage. hezucký, by contrast, seemed to stumble into show business; he thrived in the comfort of his home, with his family, and surrounded by nature. Mareš is diligent, exercises, and eats healthily, while Hezucký was more a poet of life, enjoying its pleasures. Mareš loves to travel and readily flies across the globe to discover remote locations. Hezucký disliked airplanes, preferring road trips to familiar destinations-like his beloved Croatia.
