Mitsubishi Power, a leading provider of power generation solutions, has secured a contract to enhance the output of the Darajat Geothermal Power Plant in Indonesia. This turn-key project involves design, manufacturing, installation support, and long-term operational assistance for the plant located in Garut, West Java.

Boosting Power Output and Clean Energy

The retrofit project will increase the power output from the existing 121 megawatts (MW) to 129 MW. This enhancement utilizes Mitsubishi Power’s advanced steam turbine technologies, enabling increased efficiency and power generation.

“Indonesia has the second-largest geothermal power generation capacity in the world. We are proud to contribute to this growth with our expertise and technology,” said Kazuhiro Yoshida, President of PT. Mitsubishi Power Indonesia.

This project marks the sixth geothermal power plant in Indonesia where Mitsubishi Power has provided turbines, totaling approximately 400 MW of installed capacity. The company is also actively involved in the construction of an additional unit, further solidifying its commitment to clean energy solutions in the region.

“Amid rising electricity demand in Indonesia, there is also greater pressure from consumers for electricity derived from renewable energy.
