Blank Park Zoo launches “Roar & Explore” Statewide Art Initiative & New Lion Habitat

Blank Park Zoo is celebrating its 60th anniversary with “Roar & Explore,” a public art initiative inviting Iowa artists to contribute to a statewide display. Simultaneously, the zoo is preparing to open the new Marjorie A. Foster Lion Conservation Center, substantially expanding the lion habitat.

“Roar & Explore” Art Project Details

The zoo is seeking submissions from 20 Iowa artists to design and paint large-scale steel lion sculptures. These sculptures were constructed by the zooS maintenance team. Artists can submit their designs through the zoo’s website.
