Valladolid Offers Up to €10,000 to Attract Returning Talent
The City Council of Valladolid has launched a new initiative to encourage professionals who have built their careers outside of Castilla y León to return to the city. The ‘We return to Valladolid’ program will offer aid of up to €10,000 to eligible applicants.
Mayor Jesús Julio Carnero announced the program at a meeting of the Valladolid Ambassadors Network, which included a significant portrayal of 130 ambassadors residing in over 35 countries across all continents.
The aid will be provided as a non-refundable subsidy to cover expenses related to relocating from outside the Autonomous Community of Castilla y León. The initial budget for the program is €50,000, with the potential to increase to €100,000 based on demand.
To qualify for the scholarship, applicants must have been born in or resided in Valladolid for at least twelve months, and have lived and worked outside of Castilla y León for a minimum of twelve continuous months prior to applying. Recipients will be required to establish residency in Valladolid for at least two years, verified by a registration certificate.
Two application windows are available: applications for those who returned to Valladolid in 2025 are open until January 31st, and the deadline for those returning in 2026 will remain open until November 30th.
The initiative was announced during a large in-person meeting of the reactivated Ambassadors Network – a “strategic tool” for maintaining connections with Valladolid natives working abroad and leveraging their expertise for the city’s economic, cultural, and social growth through Valladolid Now. The network,originally established in 2009,is comprised of professionals from diverse fields and has a dedicated website: www.embajadoresvalladolid.com. This event marked the first major face-to-face gathering of the network in its new phase, emphasizing its commitment to being an “open, plural and growing” community.
