Egypt and Turkey Coordinate on gaza,Sudan,and Somalia in Diplomatic Push
Cairo,Egypt – Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty and Turkish counterpart Hakan Fidan held a phone call to discuss pressing regional issues,signaling a continued effort towards collaborative diplomacy between teh two nations.The conversation, as detailed in a statement released by the Egyptian Foreign Ministry, focused on the critical situations unfolding in Gaza, Sudan, and Somalia.
Both ministers underscored the necessity of unified regional and international action to solidify the current ceasefire in Gaza and facilitate the progression to the next stage of the U.S.-backed peace initiative. Abdelatty specifically advocated for the immediate formation of a temporary Palestinian technocratic committee to manage the daily administration of Gaza. He further called for the deployment of an international stabilization force, operating in accordance with UN Security Council Resolution 2803, to ensure security and stability.
A key priority highlighted by the Egyptian Foreign Minister was the guarantee of unimpeded humanitarian access to Gaza, alongside the swift initiation of early recovery and reconstruction projects. Abdelatty also reaffirmed Egypt’s firm opposition to any measures that could jeopardize Palestinian territorial integrity, specifically citing ongoing Israeli activities in the West Bank as a source of concern.
Turning to Sudan, the discussion centered on the urgent need for a humanitarian truce as a stepping stone towards a comprehensive ceasefire. Abdelatty emphasized the importance of upholding Sudan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, supporting its national institutions, and ensuring the safe and efficient delivery of humanitarian aid to those in need.
The ministers also addressed developments in the Horn of Africa, jointly condemning Israel’s recognition of “Somaliland.” Both Egypt and Turkey asserted that this action constitutes a violation of international law and the principles enshrined in the UN Charter. They reaffirmed their unwavering support for Somalia’s unity,sovereignty,and territorial integrity,underscoring the importance of regional stability.
