Latvian Officials Attend Munich Security Conference

State President Edgars Rinkēvičs and Prime Minister Evika Siliņa (JV) will participate in the Munich Security Conference on a working visit to Munich, Germany from Friday, February 13 to Sunday, February 15, LETA was informed by the State Chancellery and the State Chancellery.

On Sunday, February 15, the President is scheduled to participate in the panel discussion “Europeans Assemble: Reclaiming Agency in a Rougher World” of the main program of the Munich Security Conference.

The President is also scheduled to participate in other discussions included in the conference program, including on Friday, February 13, the discussion “The New Great Game: Rethinking Information, Technology, and Global Power” organized by the NATO Strategic Communication Center of Excellence, and on Saturday, February 14, the discussion on support for Ukraine “Ukraine: Futures’ Frontline”.

During the visit, the President will also have a bilateral meeting with the President of Moldova Maia Sanda, as well as other bilateral meetings are planned.

On the other hand, during the visit, Siliņa is scheduled to participate in the official opening of the conference, as well as bilateral meetings with officials and representatives of international companies.

The Munich Security Conference is one of the most important international security and foreign policy forums in the world, where state leaders, ministers, heads of international organizations, experts and business representatives gather every year to discuss current global security challenges, international stability and cooperation.

This year, the conference will be attended by more than 1,000 participants from more than 115 countries, including about 60 heads of state and government, as well as leaders of more than 50 international organizations.
