FBI Intensifies Search for Nancy Guthrie, Savannah Guthrie’s Mother, in Arizona Kidnapping

The FBI is continuing its investigation into the kidnapping of Nancy Guthrie, the 84-year-old mother of “Today” show host Savannah Guthrie, from her home outside of Tucson, Arizona. Authorities have released recent details about a suspect and are urging the public to come forward with any information.

Timeline of Events

Nancy Guthrie was reportedly taken from her home in the early hours of February 1, 2026. The case was officially classified as a kidnapping by the FBI on February 12, 2026. As of February 16, 2026, she has been missing for 15 days.

Suspect Description and Evidence

The FBI has described the suspect as a male approximately 5’9″ to 5’10” tall with an average build. He was seen in doorbell camera footage wearing an Ozark Trail Hiker backpack USA Today. A glove containing DNA evidence, believed to be worn by the suspect in the doorbell footage, was discovered approximately two miles from Nancy Guthrie’s home CNN. Investigators are awaiting final test results on the glove.

Reward and Public Appeal

The reward for information leading to the location of Nancy Guthrie and/or the arrest and conviction of anyone involved in her disappearance has been doubled to $100,000 USA Today. Savannah Guthrie has made repeated public pleas for her mother’s safe return, stating, “It is never too late to do the right thing” CNN.

Investigation Status

The Pima County Sheriff’s Department initially detained a person with possible connections to the disappearance but released them without charges USA Today. Hundreds of detectives and agents are assigned to the investigation, which is expanding in the Tucson area AP News. More than 14,000 tips have been received by the FBI.
