Mother and Daughter Found Dead in Las Vegas Hotel in Apparent Murder-Suicide

A mother fatally shot her young daughter before taking her own life inside a Las Vegas hotel room, according to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD). The incident occurred at the Rio Hotel & Casino on Sunday, February 15, 2026.

Details of the Incident

Police were initially called to the Rio Hotel & Casino around 10:45 a.m. On Sunday for a welfare check on the pair Fox News and KTNV. After attempting to contact the individuals in the room for approximately 15 to 20 minutes without success, officers advised hotel security and cleared the call.

Hotel security later received additional information from family and friends requesting they locate the mother and daughter. Around 2:30 p.m., security personnel re-entered the room and discovered both victims deceased. (Las Vegas Review-Journal)
