Algeria: Revised School Schedules for Ramadan 2026 Announced
The Algerian Ministry of National Education has announced adjusted school schedules for the duration of Ramadan 2026, which is expected to begin on Tuesday, February 17, 2026. These changes, based on directives from the General Directorate of Public Function and Administrative Reform, aim to accommodate students and staff observing the holy month.
National Schedule Adjustments

Primary School Schedule Variations
- Single-Shift Primary Schools: Morning classes will be shortened by 45 minutes and afternoon classes by 30 minutes. Students will benefit from a 1 hour and 15-minute break between morning and afternoon sessions.
- Double-Shift Primary Schools: Morning class duration will be reduced from 2 hours and 30 minutes to 1 hour and 45 minutes. Afternoon sessions will be shortened from 2 hours to 1 hour and 30 minutes.
Special Schedule for Tuesdays

For students in the first and second years of primary school, classes will be shortened by 30 minutes in both the morning and evening sessions on Thursdays.
Middle and High School Adjustments
