Navy Men’s Tennis Set for Busy Weekend with Four Matches

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The Navy men’s tennis team (10-6) will play a challenging weekend with doubleheaders on both Friday and Sunday. The Midshipmen will host Drexel (4-1) on Friday at 1 p.m. In Annapolis and travel to Williamsburg, Virginia, to face William & Mary (1-3) at 4 p.m. On Sunday, Navy will return to the Tose Family Tennis Center to take on Bryant (2-3) at 8:30 a.m. And Temple (0-4) at 4 p.m.

Recent Performance

Navy went 3-1 last week, securing 6-1 victories over Saint Joseph’s, Hampton, and Villanova, while falling to NJIT with a score of 7-0. Aniketh Ayinala, Jason Kim, and Steve Nguyen each posted 2-0 records in both singles and doubles play during the week.

Opponent Previews

Drexel Dragons (4-1)

Drexel has achieved wins against Morgan State, Villanova, Rider, and Temple this season, with a loss to Saint Joseph’s. The Dragons finished the 2025 season with a 10-8 overall record and a 2-4 mark in the Coastal Athletic Association, losing in the quarterfinal round of the CAA Tournament. Navy trails in the series against Drexel 9-4, but the Dragons have won the last three meetings, including 6-1 in 2023 and 5-2 in each of the past two years.

William & Mary Tribe (1-3)

William & Mary’s lone win this season came against Longwood, with losses to Penn State, Furman, and Coastal Carolina. The Tribe had a 6-13 record last year and a 2-5 record in the CAA. Navy leads the overall series against William & Mary 31-13, but the Tribe has won the last nine matches, dating back to 1996, including a 5-1 victory in 2024.

Bryant Bulldogs (2-3)

Bryant has defeated Brandeis and Marist this year, while losing to Dartmouth twice and Buffalo once. Last year, the Bulldogs posted an 11-10 record and a 1-2 mark in the Southland Conference. They will compete in the Sizeable South Conference this season. Navy and Bryant have split their four previous matches, with Navy winning the last meeting 5-2 in 2022.

Temple Owls (0-4)

Temple will face Morgan State on Friday before playing Navy on Sunday. The Owls have lost to Penn State, Bucknell, Lehigh, and Drexel this season. Temple finished the 2025 season with an 11-9 overall record and fell in the first round of the American Conference Tournament. Navy leads the series against Temple 25-7, but Temple has won three of the last four matches, with five of the last seven decided by a score of 4-3, including a 4-3 victory in 2025.
