Dog Attack in Christchurch Leaves Three Injured, One Critically

Christchurch, New Zealand – A dog attack in the Bryndwr suburb of Christchurch on Saturday, February 21, 2026, has left three people injured, one critically. Emergency services responded to the incident on Bevin Place shortly before 2:45 PM local time.

Details of the Incident

According to reports from RNZ, police and ambulance crews were dispatched to a residence on Bevin Place following reports of a dog attack. A woman was receiving medical attention from paramedics at the scene, while another individual was transported to a hospital in serious condition. A third person was treated for minor injuries on-site. Radio New Zealand reported that animal control officers seized two dogs following the attack.

No Ongoing Public Risk

Acting Superintendent Ash Tabb, Christchurch Metro acting area commander, stated that there is no ongoing risk to the public and a thorough scene examination is underway. RNZ confirmed police were notified about the incident at approximately 2:45 PM.
