President Signs with Atlantic Records, Releases Emotional New Single ‘Angel Wings’
The enigmatic metal band President, who captivated audiences with their mysterious debut at Download Festival in 2025, have signed with Atlantic Records and released their new single, “Angel Wings.”
Breakthrough Year and Continued Mystery
President experienced a breakout year in 2025, generating significant buzz with an appearance at the Download Festival despite remaining largely unknown prior to the event. The band released their debut EP, ‘King Of Terrors,’ further fueling speculation about their identities.
The identities of the band members remain concealed, leading to widespread theories. Some fans believe the band is fronted by Charlie Simpson, known for his work with Busted and Fightstar, even as others speculate a connection to the similarly enigmatic group Sleep Token.
“Angel Wings” and a New Chapter
“Angel Wings” is described as an anthemic, riff-heavy track showcasing the frontman’s emotional range. According to a statement from the band, the song “reflects a search for spiritual redemption and the resolve to begin again.” They added that it “marks the opening of a new chapter” and speaks to the importance of cherished relationships while remaining unfazed by criticism.
Addressing “Industry Plant” Accusations
President has directly addressed accusations of being an “industry plant,” strongly refuting the claims. They assert that their path to recognition has been anything but planned, stating they “couldn’t have planned a harder way” to gain attention.
Recent Performance and Upcoming Tour
NME reviewed President’s performance at The Garage last summer, awarding it three stars. The review described the show as a “triumphant debut headline show” but noted the need for more material to sustain the initial excitement. The review stated that the band’s setlist, consisting of only six songs, felt short and suggested that additional headline dates planned for 2026 would allow them to expand their live show.
President will embark on a ‘Campaign Trail’ UK and Ireland tour beginning on April 12 in Dublin and concluding on April 21 at London’s O2 Forum Kentish Town.
