Whataburger Remains Texas’ Favorite Prompt Food Chain
Texans’ devotion to Whataburger is unwavering, and recent data confirms the burger chain’s dominance in the state. A FinanceBuzz analysis identified Whataburger as the top fast-food choice for residents of the Lone Star State.
How the Rankings Were Determined
The study, conducted by personal finance website FinanceBuzz, assessed nearly 70 major fast-food chains nationwide. Rankings were determined by combining Google search popularity with the number of restaurant locations per capita to identify each state’s preferred chain. The data was compiled in March 2024.
Whataburger’s Expansion
While Whataburger reigns supreme in Texas, the chain is as well expanding its reach. Whataburger plans to open new locations in 38 cities across 11 states. The expansion includes a new location in Mesa, Arizona, marking the chain’s sixth in the city, and its first location in Clarksville, Arkansas, which is expected to create 100 local jobs.
National Fast Food Preferences
Nationally, preferences are more diverse. Wendy’s and Sonic each topped the lists in five states, while eleven different restaurants held the number one spot in multiple states. In total, 30 different chains were named the favorite in at least one state, with many states favoring locally founded brands. Seventeen restaurants were named the favorite in the state where the chain originated.
