Meghan Markle’s Father to Receive Prosthetic Leg After Life-Saving Surgery

Thomas Markle Sr., 81, is preparing to be fitted for a prosthetic leg following a life-saving surgery in December that resulted in the amputation of his left leg below the knee. The surgery was necessitated by a blood clot that cut off circulation to his foot, nearly proving fatal.

According to his son, Thomas Markle Jr., the former Hollywood lighting director underwent a three-hour operation at a hospital in Cebu, Philippines, where he now resides. Markle Jr. Revealed in a livestream that his father is currently undergoing physical therapy and rehabilitation, with the goal of regaining mobility with a prosthetic limb. Mirror

Doctors determined amputation was the only option to save Markle Sr.’s life after a blood clot severely restricted blood flow. “There was no option. I was told the leg had to be removed and it was a case of life or death,” Markle Jr. Told the New York Post.
