The District of Coldstream, British Columbia, has issued a warning to drivers, residents, and visitors regarding inaccurate route guidance provided by Google Maps. The issue stems from a construction-related closure on Aberdeen Road, slated to continue until October, causing the navigation app to direct traffic through private property and open fields.

Incorrect Route Guidance and Safety Concerns

According to the District of Coldstream, Google Maps is currently directing drivers to unauthorized routes to access Rendell Drive, Shamanski Drive, Paisley Drive, Heritage Lane, and Stenquist Park. These routes are not legal public access points and pose safety risks.

The district specifically advises against driving through fields or unestablished routes, even if suggested by navigation apps. They also caution against parking and walking through private property.

Correct Access Routes

To ensure safe and legal access to the affected areas, the public is advised to follow these directions:

• Rendell Drive, Shamanski Drive, Paisley Drive, Heritage Lane, and Stenquist Park should only be accessed via Aberdeen Road off Highway 6.
• Access is not available via Kalamalka Road.
