Wicklow Man Jack Morley Named Eco Hero of the Year
Jack Morley, a Wicklow resident, has been awarded the Eco Hero of the Year title by Outsider magazine for his work in rewilding a five-acre property and raising awareness about biodiversity.
Rewilding Efforts Recognized
Morley’s “Rewildlife” campaign, encompassing video creation, podcasting, and writing, was lauded at an awards ceremony held at the Helix Theatre. His efforts focus on increasing awareness of biodiversity and the importance of nature. In his acceptance speech, Morley encouraged everyone to “do our bit” for the environment.
Transforming Land into a Nature Reserve
Morley has transformed his home, shared with his wife Abby and son Brugha, into a five-acre nature reserve. While the exact location near Wicklow town is kept private, it’s a haven for wildlife, including grey wagtails and rowan trees.

The Outsider magazine award recognizes Morley’s significant impact as an environmental advocate. The award was hotly contested, with many incredible nominees, but Morley’s dedication to rewilding and promoting biodiversity ultimately led to his victory.
