Tesla Revives Seven-Seat Model Y Option in Europe

Tesla has reintroduced a seven-seat configuration for the Model Y in Europe, but the option is limited to the Premium Long Range all-wheel-drive variant. The addition, available in Germany and other European countries supplied by Gigafactory Berlin-Brandenburg, comes after a brief hiatus following the Juniper facelift.

Pricing and Availability

The seven-seat option adds €2,500 to the price of the Model Y Premium Long Range AWD, bringing the base price to €55,490 in Germany. A processing fee of €980 is too applied. Deliveries of the seven-seat variant are scheduled for April to May 2026, aligning with the delivery window for the five-seat version with the same powertrain. Electrive reports similar pricing in France, Spain, and the Netherlands.

History of the Seven-Seat Model Y

Tesla initially offered a seven-seat option for the ‘Legacy’ Model Y in October 2024, but it was discontinued with the launch of the Juniper update in early 2025. The reintroduction now confines the third row exclusively to the Premium Long Range with all-wheel drive.

Space and Specifications

With all seven seats in use, the Model Y offers 381 liters of cargo space behind the third row, enough for two carry-on suitcases, according to Tesla. Folding down the third-row seats increases cargo capacity to 894 liters, comparable to the standard five-seat version. The seven-seat configuration does not alter the exterior design of the vehicle.

The all-wheel-drive configuration with the seven-seat option boasts a WLTP range of up to 600 kilometers when equipped with 19-inch Crossflow wheels and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.8 seconds.

Model YL Comparison

While the seven-seat Model Y returns to Europe, it’s worth noting that Tesla offers the long-wheelbase Model Y L with six seats in China. However, there are currently no plans to bring the Model Y L to the European market. Electrek highlights that the Model YL offers a more spacious third row.

Tesla’s European Strategy

The reintroduction of the seven-seat Model Y aligns with Tesla’s broader European strategy, which focuses on establishing Giga Berlin as a central hub for production and offering a family-friendly lineup. Tesla Accessories notes this is part of a larger effort to integrate more deeply into the European automotive landscape.
