Middle East Conflict Disrupts Flights at Thai Airports

The ongoing conflict in the Middle East is impacting air travel to and from Thailand, with 54 flights affected at Suvarnabhumi and Phuket airports as of Sunday, March 1, 2026. The disruptions primarily involve airlines based in the conflict region, causing cancellations and diversions.

Flight Cancellations at Suvarnabhumi Airport

Suvarnabhumi Airport has mobilized staff and expanded passenger support areas in response to flight cancellations linked to the Israel–Iran situation. As of March 1, 2026, a total of 32 flights have been cancelled – 16 outbound and 16 inbound – impacting eight airlines: EL AL Israel Airlines, Air Arabia, Emirates, Qatar Airways, Etihad Airways, Gulf Air, Arkia Israel Inland Airlines, and Kuwait Airways. Airports of Thailand Plc (AOT) is working with airlines to manage operations and support passengers.

The airport has established information points, provided drinking water, and added temporary seating near Door 1 and Door 10 on Level 2 of the arrivals terminal to accommodate affected travelers. Passengers are strongly advised to check their flight status directly with their respective airlines.

Impact on Phuket Airport

Phuket Airport is also experiencing disruptions, with 15 flights affected by the Middle East conflict. The impacted airlines are Qatar Airways, Etihad, UNICAIR (PRIVATE FLIGHT), and Air Arabia. These flights have been either cancelled or diverted. Passengers traveling through Phuket Airport are urged to verify their flight status with their airlines and allow extra time for travel.

On February 28, 2026, Etihad Airways flight ETD 417, en route from Phuket to Abu Dhabi, returned to Phuket International Airport due to escalating unrest in the Middle East, prioritizing passenger and crew safety. The flight remains under assessment, and passengers are being kept informed of new travel plans.

Ongoing Situation and Passenger Advice

The situation remains fluid, and international flights in the Middle East routes continue to be affected. Passengers with travel plans to or from the Middle East are advised to stay updated on the latest developments and coordinate closely with their airlines for assistance and information. The Public Relations counter on the 3rd floor of the international terminal at Phuket Airport (phone 0-7635-2302) is available for further information.
