Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 Faces High Rate of Cheating Searches
Cheating in online multiplayer games remains a persistent issue and recent data indicates that Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 is currently the most searched-for game when it comes to cheat-related queries. Despite improvements to anti-cheat systems, player interest in finding ways to gain an unfair advantage remains high.
Call of Duty Tops Cheat Search Rankings
A study conducted by cybersecurity company Surfshark revealed that Call of Duty experiences approximately 66 cheat-related searches for every 1,000 players. This places it significantly ahead of other popular titles. Rocket League follows in second place with 59 searches per 1,000 players, and Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege is third with 53 searches per 1,000 players. Gaming Compare
Study Methodology
Surfshark analyzed 15 popular online multiplayer games, including Marvel Rivals, Apex Legends, and Counter-Strike 2, tracking search volume during February using keywords such as “aimbot,” “wallhack,” “hack,” and “cheat.”
MOBA Games Exhibit Higher Community Integrity
Interestingly, the study found that Multiplayer Online Battle Arena (MOBA) games like Overwatch, League of Legends, Valorant, and DOTA 2 have a significantly lower incidence of cheat-related searches, averaging around 0.3 searches per 1,000 players. Surfshark attributes this to a higher level of community integrity within the MOBA genre.
Kernel-Level Anti-Cheat Systems Show Promise
The research also suggests that games employing kernel-level anti-cheat systems, such as the one recently implemented for Black Ops 7 on Windows PCs, tend to see reduced interest in cheating searches. Kernel-level anti-cheat systems operate at the deepest level of the operating system, granting them extensive access to memory and hardware to detect hidden processes and cheating attempts.
