Fabian Pedregosa Leads New AFP Strategic Command

Major General Fabian M. Pedregosa of the Philippine Air Force has been appointed as the acting commander of the newly activated Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Strategic Command. The command’s activation, formalized on October 27, 2025, aims to bolster the AFP’s joint force readiness and modernize the country’s defense posture Philippine News Agency.

The AFP Strategic Command will function as a central hub integrating intelligence, operations, and civil-military affairs. Background of Major General Fabian Pedregosa

Prior to leading the Strategic Command, Major General Pedregosa served as the Commander of the Air Defense Command of the Philippine Air Force. He was appointed as the Chief of Staff of the Philippine Air Force in 2022 APF Canada. His previous roles include Wing Commander of the 580th Aircraft Control and Warning Wing in 2021 and the 5th Fighter Wing in 2017 APF Canada.

Education and Training

Major General Pedregosa holds a Master’s degree in Management from the Asian Institute of Management and a Master’s in Public Administration from the Development Academy of the Philippines APF Canada. He is a graduate of the Philippine Military Academy “MAAALAB” Class of 1993 and excelled in his Undergraduate Pilot Training, receiving the Secretary of National Defence Award at the Philippine Air Force Flying School APF Canada.

International Experience and Awards

Throughout his career, Major General Pedregosa has participated in numerous international military exercises, including the Disaster Preparedness and Response “Tempest” Exercise in Cambodia, and multinational exercises such as “Pitch Black” in Australia, “Maple Flag” in Canada, and “Red Flag” in Alaska APF Canada. He has been recognized with several awards, including the Order of Lapu Lapu, Outstanding Achievement Medal, Distinguished Service Star, Distinguished Aviation Cross, Gawad sa Kaunlaran, Silver Cross, Meritorious Achievement Medal, and Distinguished Service Medal APF Canada.

AFP Chief General Romeo Brawner Jr. Emphasized the Strategic Command’s importance in confronting contemporary security threats, including cyberattacks and disinformation campaigns.
