Lindsey Slater Hires Attorney in Dispute Over Non-Compete Agreement with WISN-TV
Former WISN-TV meteorologist Lindsey Slater has retained legal counsel to challenge a non-compete agreement following her departure from the Milwaukee station late last month. The dispute centers on Slater’s ability to continue working in the field of meteorology in the Milwaukee market.
Legal Challenge to Non-Compete
Robert Corris, Slater’s attorney, stated on March 11, 2026, that he believes Slater has a strong case to invalidate the non-compete agreement. “It’s my opinion that she would be able to defeat the non-compete,” Corris said, expressing confidence in their position.
Corris indicated a preference for reaching a negotiated agreement with WISN-TV rather than pursuing litigation. He declined to disclose specific details of the agreement, including whether it is limited to the Milwaukee area.
WISN-TV’s Response
Shawn Oswald, president and general manager of WISN-TV, was unavailable for comment as of March 11, 2026.
Potential Legal Strategies
Corris outlined two general scenarios in which he typically advises clients to pursue legal action regarding non-compete agreements. These include instances where a client is unable to secure employment within the restricted region or when a more complex legal procedure involving filing suit in another state is necessary.
Slater’s Current Status and Future Plans
Slater has not publicly commented on the specifics of her departure from WISN-TV. Still, she has addressed social media speculation regarding the reason for her leaving, stating she did not leave due to political posts. She has expressed a desire to continue her career in meteorology.
In a message posted on the social media platform BlueSky, Slater assured her followers, “Don’t worry. I’ll be back soon. Hang tight.” She has remained active on BlueSky, providing weather updates.
