Mexi Log Fest 2025: Calmon and Esquivel Jr. Crowned Champions in Mazatlan

Mazatlan, Mexico – The 11th annual Mexi Log Fest recently concluded, solidifying its position as a premier event on the longboard circuit. Founded by Israel “Izzy” Preciado, the festival is a celebration of surf culture, community, and Mexican spirit. This year’s competition, held at Playa Los Pinos, saw Brazilian Chloe Calmon and Filipino Rogelio Esquivel Jr. Take home the top honors.

Champions Rise

Chloe Calmon’s victory marked her second consecutive win at Mexi Log Fest, a first in the competition’s history. Rogelio Esquivel Jr. Navigated a competitive men’s division to secure his title. According to Preciado, both champions “showed up when it mattered most—in the best waves of the week, with style, grace, and corazon.”

A Global Gathering

The event attracted approximately 160 competitors from over 30 nations, demonstrating its growing international appeal. Surfers from California, Hawaii, Brazil, Portugal, Australia, the Philippines, and Mexico participated in the festival. Mexi Log Fest is known for its “solid waves, great attendance and immaculate vibes.”

More Than Just a Competition

Mexi Log Fest extends beyond the surf competition, offering a range of cultural experiences. Competitors and attendees enjoyed karaoke nights, a photography exhibition, movie screenings, and a visit to El Observatorio, a historic castle overlooking Mazatlan. A traditional Mexican Lucha Libre wrestling match was also a highlight.

Community Engagement

The festival prioritizes community involvement. Local volunteers assisted with children’s art workshops, and morning yoga sessions were led by Casa Zense. A key tradition involves competitors volunteering to teach surfing to children with special needs, which Preciado describes as “the pinnacle of the competitors integrating with the community.”

Izzy Preciado expressed his enthusiasm for the future of the event, stating, “I’m counting the days to meet once again our international familia to share with all of them and the world the beauty and kindness of our people, food, fiesta and culture that makes my Mexico beautiful and unique.
