Carlson Sparks Outcry with Claims of Jewish Involvement in Iran Conflict

Former Fox News host Tucker Carlson has faced widespread criticism for comments made on his podcast alleging Jewish people are instigating the conflict in Iran. The remarks, made during a March 4th episode, have prompted security concerns for Jewish communities and accusations of antisemitism.

Carlson’s Claims and the “Third Temple” Theory

Carlson suggested the conflict could be a “religious war” aimed at rebuilding the Third Temple, a concept rooted in some Christian end-times beliefs, on land considered holy by both Jews and Muslims. He displayed images of Israeli soldiers wearing patches he claimed depicted the Third Temple, alleging a hidden agenda within the Israel Defense Forces (IDF). He further asserted that Chabad, a Hasidic Jewish movement, was subtly pushing for the temple’s reconstruction.

Claims Debunked and Condemnation from Jewish Advocates

Gerard Filitti, senior counsel at the Lawfare Project, refuted Carlson’s claims, stating the IDF patches were not associated with Chabad but with an unaffiliated organization. Filitti criticized Carlson for naming a Jewish organization as a driver of war without evidence, warning of potential legal repercussions and the risk of inciting violence.

Rabbi Yaacov Behrman, a spokesperson for Chabad Lubavitch, denounced Carlson’s statements as “reckless, dangerous and irresponsible,” calling them lies that endanger Jews globally. He emphasized Chabad’s focus on positive contributions to the world. Rabbi Mark Wildes, founder and director of the Manhattan Jewish Experience, defended Chabad and criticized Carlson’s “deep ignorance about, and hostility toward, the Jewish people.”

Increased Security Concerns for Jewish Communities

The heightened attention surrounding Carlson’s claims prompted Chabad rabbis across the United States to increase security measures. Rabbi Behrman, even as valuing free speech, cautioned that irresponsible use of large platforms to spread misinformation can have dangerous consequences, citing a history of antisemitic rhetoric leading to violence.

Calls for Accountability

Filitti urged political leaders and media figures to condemn Carlson’s statements, arguing that silence equates to complicity in spreading Jew-hatred, particularly at a time when Jewish communities worldwide face increased threats.

As of March 12, 2026, “The Tucker Carlson Display” had not responded to requests for comment from amNewYork.
