Liverpool Injury Update: Alisson, Chiesa, and Isak Ahead of Tottenham Clash

Liverpool head into their Premier League match against Tottenham Hotspur with several key players facing late fitness assessments. Manager Arne Slot provided updates on the squad’s condition during a press conference at the AXA Training Centre, as preparations continue for Sunday’s game.

Alisson Becker’s Fitness Assessment

Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker is currently under observation following a minor muscle issue sustained shortly before the Champions League match against Galatasaray. Although the injury doesn’t appear to be serious, Slot confirmed the club is taking a cautious approach.

“He’s been with the physios and with rehab until now,” Slot stated. “We are training today, so let’s see if he can join the team session. That is something I expect but I’m not 100 per cent sure yet because I haven’t spoken to him or the medical staff this morning yet.”

Slot expressed cautious optimism regarding Alisson’s availability for the Tottenham match. “I’m hopeful but that’s not to say I’m 100 per cent sure.” He further explained the incident, noting, “He felt something when he passed the ball in one of his muscles. But after we checked it, it was so minor that we think it doesn’t have to take highly long.”

The club anticipates Alisson’s return to full fitness soon, potentially for the second leg against Galatasaray if he misses the Tottenham game.

Federico Chiesa Expected to Return

Federico Chiesa too missed the Galatasaray fixture due to illness. However, his condition appears to be improving, and he could return to training with the squad.

“I expect he feels better now because he felt unwell the day before the game and I think we’re now three or four further ahead,” Slot said. “So, I think he’s able to train with us today again.”

Alexander Isak’s Recovery Continues

Alexander Isak continues his rehabilitation following surgery in December. He has not yet returned to full training with the Liverpool squad.

“With the rehab team still and not with the team yet,” Slot confirmed, indicating that patience is key as Isak progresses towards full fitness.

Liverpool supporters will be hoping for positive news on the fitness of Alisson and Chiesa ahead of the crucial Premier League clash against Tottenham Hotspur.
