Popular Angers Guinguette, Le Héron Carré, Changes Management

The popular riverside guinguette, Le Héron Carré, in Angers, France, is undergoing a change in management. After ten years under the leadership of Vincent Salvat and his associates, a recent team has been selected to operate the establishment according to Ouest-France.

New Team Selected

Salvat and five other teams submitted proposals for the next six-year operating agreement. A team of six people, including Salvat’s former associate Arthur Pithon, was chosen as reported on Facebook. Salvat had proposed a continuation of the guinguette’s recent operations, but the selection committee opted for the new project.

Transition and Future Plans

Salvat and his team are currently dismantling Le Héron Carré before transitioning to new ventures. He also manages the tavern in Ponts-de-Cé, En Rouge et Loire, which is undergoing reconstruction after being impacted by flooding and is expected to open in early April as noted by Ouest-France. However, En Rouge et Loire’s long-term viability may depend on developing a new economic model, as its current model was linked to and financially supported by Le Héron Carré.

Reopening Date

Le Héron Carré previously announced its reopening for the 2024 season on March 25th, operating from 11 am to 22 pm Sunday through Thursday, and 11 am to 23 pm on Fridays and Saturdays according to Angers Villactu. The first concerts were scheduled to begin on March 29th. It is currently unclear if these dates will be affected by the change in management.
