MAAP, Wolf Tooth, and Muc-Off Unveil Latest Cycling Innovations
As spring approaches, several companies are releasing fresh technologies and gear aimed at enhancing the cycling experience. Australian apparel brand MAAP has launched a new line of tech bags, Wolf Tooth has introduced a semi-integrated headset, and Muc-Off has unveiled a wax-based chain lubricant. Soeckloen has released an aero cargo base layer, and Fizik has introduced a new road shoe, the Lyra.
MAAP’s ALUULA Tech Bag Collection
MAAP has released the ALUULA Tech Bag Collection, featuring a tote, pouch, and musette bag constructed from 100% recycle-ready ALUULA Graflyte fabric. The fabric gives the bags a silver, distressed look and provides durability, strength, and waterproof protection. The Tech Pouch is available for $60, the Tech Musette for $120, and the Tech Tote for $145. These bags are designed for everyday use, commuting, or as packable day bags for travel.
Wolf Tooth’s Semi-Integrated Headset
Wolf Tooth, sister company to Otso, has released a semi-integrated headset designed for easier cable routing. This allows for a simpler cable setup process compared to fully external or fully internal routing systems. The headsets are machined from aircraft-grade 6061 aluminum in Minnesota and feature large Enduro bearings and custom seals to prevent moisture and debris from entering the headset. The IS52 option is priced at $179, even as the EC44 is available for $219.95.
Muc-Off Dark Energy Chain Wax
Muc-Off has introduced the Dark Energy Chain Wax, a wax-based lubricant formulated for road, gravel, and mountain biking. Unlike hot wax immersion treatments, this lubricant is applied via a drip bottle. The formulation took four years of research and development, involving 90 formulations, 8,600 hours of lab testing, and 100,000 km of real-world testing with professional cycling teams. The wax is available in 50ml ($18) and 120ml ($25) formats.
Soeckloen Aero Cargo Base Layer
Soeckloen has launched an aero cargo base layer designed to improve aerodynamics and provide storage. The base layer features a front pocket in the chest area, intended to reduce drag by closing the gap between the rider and the bike.
Fizik Lyra Road Shoe
Fizik has released the Lyra road shoe, an affordable model designed for “modern riding positions.” The shoe features a zero-drop profile, a wider toe box, and a Dual-Dial Li2 BOA Fit System. It is priced at 249.00€ / $249.99 / £229.99.
