Bridgeport Bulls Advance in 4A Division II Playoffs
Bridgeport (17-3) secured a 4-1 bi-district win over Canyon Randall on Thursday at Burkburnett High School, advancing to the next round of the 4A Division II playoffs. The victory marks the first playoff win for first-year coach Brandon Medrano.
Early Momentum and a First-Half Lead
Xxavier Garza scored an early goal for Bridgeport at the 33:33 mark, giving the Bulls a 1-0 lead. Bridgeport goalkeeper Habram Medina made a crucial save, and a shot by Canyon Randall went wide, preserving the Bulls’ lead at halftime.
Second-Half Surge Seals the Victory
After Randall’s Merhawi Tewolde tied the score at 1-1, Bridgeport responded with three quick goals. David Duran scored at 8:21, followed by Garza again at 5:29, putting Bridgeport ahead 3-1. Jared Contreras added a final goal with 1:35 remaining, sealing the 4-1 victory.

Coach Medrano emphasized the importance of maintaining consistency. “We’ve just got to stay true to our game,” he said. “We can’t deviate, panic or get frustrated… If we can do that, then the sky’s the limit for us.”
