Former Pediatrician Charged with New Crimes While Serving Prison Sentence for Murder

Salt Lake City, Utah – A former pediatrician, Johnny Brickman Wall, already serving a 15-years-to-life sentence for the 2011 murder of his ex-wife, Uta von Schwedler, now faces three first-degree felony charges of aggravated sexual abuse of a child. The charges stem from alleged incidents that occurred in 2011 and 2012, when the victim was 7 and 8 years old.

Details of the New Charges

Salt Lake County District Attorney Sim Gill announced the charges on March 21, 2026, stating that the victim came forward with allegations of abuse that occurred during medical appointments with Wall. Gephardt Daily reports that Gill expressed hope that the charges would provide support to the victim and demonstrate a commitment to seeking justice.

Previous Conviction

Wall was convicted in 2015 of the murder of Uta von Schwedler, who was found dead in her bathtub. KUTV detailed that investigators found evidence of a struggle and high levels of Xanax in her system. His conviction was upheld on appeal in 2019. He is currently incarcerated at the Utah State Prison. Salt Lake County District Attorney’s Office confirms he remains in custody.

Investigation and Support for the Victim

The Murray Police Department conducted the investigation into the alleged sexual abuse. Gill emphasized the commitment of the Survivor and Victim Services Division to connect the victim with resources for healing and support. ABC4 also reported on this aspect of the case.

Ongoing Legal Proceedings

Wall is currently in prison for the murder conviction, and these new charges will be added to his existing legal proceedings. The District Attorney’s office is committed to pursuing justice for the victim in this case.
