Violent Incident in Volda: Four Ukrainian Asylum Seekers Arrested
Four young men have been arrested following a violent incident in Volda, Norway, on Thursday night. A 17-year-old was transported to the hospital with minor injuries, according to Møre og Romsdal police district.
The arrested individuals, ranging in age from their teens to their early 20s, are asylum seekers from Ukraine. They are currently being held at the detention center in Ålesund pending questioning and further assessment, police stated at 00:42 local time.
The incident occurred at a private residence in Volda.
Norway has seen an increase in Ukrainian refugees seeking asylum, surpassing Sweden and Denmark in popularity. Since the start of the war, nearly 56,000 Ukrainian refugees have arrived in Norway, with more expected.
