The initiative Nourish Up, a collaboration between Loaves & Fishes and Friendship Trays, is hosting distribution events at the following locations:

  • July 17: Lift Up Carolinas, 5426 Old Pineville Rd., 10:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.

Additionally, Mission City Church (608 Valleydale Rd) will distribute canned goods, cereals, and proteins on July 16 from 12:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. Hope Street Food Pantry will provide food and hygiene products at the Allegra Westbrooks Regional Library (2412 Beatties Ford Rd) on July 21 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Health Resources and Legal Guidance

Access to healthcare remains a primary focus for community outreach in Charlotte. The Centro de Apoyo Legal de Charlotte is holding an information session regarding Medicaid and Health Insurance Marketplace enrollment on July 16, 9:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., at the University City Regional Library.

The Coalición Latinoamericana (4938 Central Ave) offers ongoing support for residents navigating health insurance options. Personalized consultations are available every Monday, including July 20, by appointment. Interested individuals should call 704-531-3848 to schedule.

For pediatric health, Vision to Learn is partnering with local libraries to provide free eye exams and glasses for children aged 5–18. A clinic is scheduled for July 22 at the West Boulevard Library from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Registration is required via the organization’s website. Furthermore, NC MedAssist will host a mobile pharmacy event in Monroe on July 24, offering over-the-counter medications for low-income individuals; registration is currently open.

Community Engagement and Educational Workshops

The Coalición Latinoamericana is also facilitating direct engagement between the public and the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.
