Spider-Man: Brand New Day surpasses 9 million in South Korea

Sony Pictures’ Spider-Man: Brand New Day has surpassed 9 million admissions domestically in South Korea and set a new global box office record for a Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) solo movie, according to data reported by Sports Donga. Driven by this commercial performance, a limited IMAX theatrical re-release is scheduled running from September 30 through October 6.

Box Office Milestones in South Korea and Globally

As of the 28th, Spider-Man: Brand New Day reached a cumulative total of 9.03 million domestic viewers in South Korea, as reported by Sports Donga. This figure pushes the film past Iron Man 3, which recorded 9.01 million admissions, making it the highest-grossing MCU solo movie in the South Korean market. On a global scale, the film grossed approximately $2.4 billion worldwide. That total surpasses the roughly $1.9 billion earned by Spider-Man: No Way Home, establishing a new global box office benchmark for MCU solo titles.

IMAX Re-Release Details and Special Merchandise

Following its domestic box office milestones, a seven-day IMAX re-release for Spider-Man: Brand New Day is scheduled from September 30 to October 6. Screenings will take place at five specific CGV locations: Centum City, Sopung, Wangsimni, Cheonan Terminal, and Cheonho. The re-release aims to offer audiences a second chance to view the film’s action sequences on large screens with enhanced sound systems. To accompany the re-release, a special item was prepared for IMAX ticket holders: a “Spider-Man Projector Pen” featuring the film’s signature color scheme, character artwork, and a built-in projection feature that casts a Spider-Man image.

Plot Overview and Production Context

Spider-Man: Brand New Day follows the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home, depicting Peter Parker—now erased from the memory of everyone he knows—as he confronts a mysterious adversary who remembers his true identity. Alongside this confrontation, Parker grapples with unstable DNA mutations that grant him difficult-to-control powers as he faces new threats. Reporting on the film’s performance and release updates was provided by journalist Lee Seung-mi for Sports Donga.
